Leading the Calls to Raise The Age
We Are Leading Experts in Children's Rights and Youth Justice, Working to Raise the Age of Criminal Responsibility in Northern Ireland
The 10 is Too Young Coalition is a group of six organisations who have been leading the calls to raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility.
We have worked internationally and locally to progress children's rights and we have direct experience working with disadvantaged children at risk of being criminalised.

Tracing the Review
In 2021, a report by Professor Nicola Carr and Dr Siobhán McAllister was commissioned to track progress in implementing The Youth Justice Review recommendations. Following this report, the Department of Justice launched a public consultation into the minimum age of criminal responsibility.
Building Support
Presenting the Evidence
We have provided expert briefings, responses and reports to the Justice Committee, the Department of Justice, wider stakeholders and the public to highlight the vast body of evidence to show why the age should be raised. We've worked with other stakeholders to highlight why they also believe the age should be raised.
Making it Count
We now have a crucial opportunity to see real and meaningful change through an amendment to the Justice Bill. We are working to maximise this opportunity by securing the most child rights compliant change possible.
